Valentines day all together

Chocolates, the sweet treat everybody loves to eat, are becoming out-dated for Valentine's day, the day couples wait for every year to give the one they love so much some candy. Why? Well many articles and people say "Chocolates are a symbol of love" or “Chocolates are delightful treats made for this special day”. Now I agree with what they are saying but I think it's really the thought and effort you put into showing that love of caring about that one special guy or girl in your life just for the day of Feb 14th honoring the saints and the Christianity of the day. 

Now chocolates, these little brown bites of sweetness, are amazing to get for that one lucky person in your life as they celebrate this holiday perfectly. Some of the best, and favorite chocolates are Russell Stover Heart-Shaped Boxes,Conversation Hearts, Hershey's Kisses, Reese's Peanut Butter Hearts, and M&M's. There is no real amount but here is a rough estimate of how many of these are sold in the month of February for Valentines day.  Approximately 36 million heart shaped boxes of chocolates are sold just in February every year. And about 800 million different chocolates are consumed in the month CRAZY. Sales for these go from 35% before the month of February then end that same month with a 75% chocolate surge and most chocolate being bought 48 to 24 hours before valentines day. The total amount spent by Americans in February is $4 billion just for chocolate in February truly a crazy thing to think about.

For teens the day is not always happy, it can be depressing or fraught with unreasonable expectations. Social media has made a giant impact on our lives in the years which is a real challenge for most teens because they care about other people's opinions. Caring about what other people think can have a detrimental impact on your feelings, therefore, some people will feel pressured to change their ideas.  Unfortunately, some people don't have that other amazing person in their lives and feel lonely. While other people do and are happy so that is always something that is noticeable on this day. Normally, most teens don't have a crazy amount of money to spend. Most importantly, is that you were thoughtful about the gift that you got that special person. The most important part about life is giving it the best effort you have and life will give you a chance down the road if you do so.

There are many special ways to enjoy the day without a partner. This is tough for everyone, especially teens in school, but being single is not as bad as it's made out to be. By being single, you get to learn more about yourself, more about your friends,make new friends, and have a lot more freedom. Life can be more peaceful and with less stress.  It is very nice to have another amazing person in your life but don't sulk, or quit if you don't. Cherish the day and the saints of Christianity for the opportunity. Also, being single is not a weakness, it's a chance to grow, learn, and be the best version of yourself. 

Finally, as students celebrate the day, one thing stays the same: the importance of connection. Whether it's simple or not. appreciate the day no matter what.
