Most high school students are involved in activities of some sort, whether it’s a sport, the band or chorus, or some sort of club. High school clubs are a way for many students to participate in something they care about, and make friends with other people in the high school. However, that may all start to change. Many different club supervisors are considering inviting middle school students into participating in different clubs. One instructor who does this already is Mr. Marmo. The band has always included eighth graders into the band, letting them participate in marching and concert band. But now, clubs are looking to do the same thing, The Acts of Kindness Club (AOK for short), is looking for middle school students to come over to the high school for meetings. When asked for thoughts on this, Emma Wagner (11) thinks it’s a positive change. ““I think it’d be good because it’d get them interacting with more high schoolers and prepare them for high school.” When asked if she thought that combining the middle school and high school would be good, she responded, “As a whole, we’re a whole student body, and t’d be good that we’d all be together”. However, not everyone is sure that we should be erasing the divide between the middle school and high school. Many students are now aware that our school is referred to as the secondary complex post-construction, because the middle and high schools are starting to combine. “I don’t know why we don’t just call it Bloomsburg middle school and Bloomsburg high school, I just think it’s kind of unnecessary,” says Sage Harmon (12). As we continue to join the middle school and high school, students hope to improve the school step by step.
